In collaboration with the Ostrava City Transportation Company, INEKON GROUP completed the biggest project of tram modernization in our country's history delivered to an international customer. The last of eighteen trams for Sofia should leave our plant in Ostrava today. The delivery should be put into operation in the Bulgarian capital by 19 December. The contract for a complete overhaul of used tram vehicle in the amount of more than 13 million Euro was signed by INEKON GROUP three years ago.

Czech trams are to become part of the municipal transportation system that serves millions of people every day

After 420 of trouble-free operation, the tram supplied to Seattle by INEKON GROUP reached some 100,000 kilometer coverage. It is another historical landmark after Czech trams achieved to transport a sum of 500,000 passengers on the line from the suburbian area South Lake Union to the center. Seattle's growing liking for trams is witnessed by the fact that in last November polls the city inhabitants approved a project to build 58 kilometers of new lines till 2020. Negotiations between municipal representation and INEKON GROUP on supplies of more vehicles are on the way already.

INEKON GROUP, a. s., has received their third award in the TOP 100 Czech Companies competition. Inekon ranked among six Czech companies that achieved exceptional results in the field of innovation and deployment. In 2006 and 2007, Inekon was awarded by the non-profit organization Comenius for their dynamic growth. Top 100 Czech Companies 2008 is an established competition in which Czech companies (registered in the Czech Republic) are assessed and awareded on an independent basis. A contract in the amount of approximately 4.7 billion CZK was signed by Inekon representatives for the construction of a new cement plant near Al Arish (capital of Northern Sinai). It was a successful end to the company's participation in a tender announce by North Sinai Cement Company at the beginning of this year. The company promised to deposit by the end of this year an advance payment and to provide a letter of credit in order for the design preparation to start as soon as possible. The cement plant with a planned production capacity of 1.6 million tons of cement per year should be put in operation by 2011.

INEKON GROUP is in the process of simplifying the organizational structure of the holding. All railroad transportation activities are now centralized under the controlling company. The fusion of INEKON GROUP, a.s., KOLEJOVÁ DOPRAVA, s.r.o., and INEKON TRAMS, a.s. has been registered in the Commercial Register. The goal of the fusion is cost reduction and unification in areas that follow each other immediately.

Changes in Inekon Group Boards

Ing. Jan Hušek, PhD, formerly member of the supervisory board, was voted vice-chairman of the INEKON GROUP board of directors. Reciprocally, his chair in the supervisory board was taken by Ing. Miroslav Kuzma who retired from the board of directors and by appointment he took Jan Hušek's chair in the supervisory board of INEKON GROUP, a.s.

Joint statment by INEKON Group a.s. and ŠKODA TRANSPORTATION s.r.o.

Josef Hušek, Director General of Inekon Group, and Tomáš Krsek, Director General of Škoda Transportation signed an agreement on future collaboration. Officially, the agreement is the end of any existing business law suits raging between both companies since 2002. The goal of these two major Czech tram producers is to win together a giant contract in Canada in the total amount of 12 billion Czech korunas.

INEKON POWER is actively involved in the Czech government's help to developing countries. In collaboration with forestry and woodworking company CE WOOD, Inekon established a public utility company SUSFOREN. Its goal will be the implementation of ecological projects in Latin American countries in collaboration with the Czech Agricultural University. Initially, the company activities will be financed by contributions of the founding members. Later also by funds related to WNO ecological projects, EU programs and other sources.
